Mama kin is a one of a kind……

No one does it like her…. she is the kinda woman I wanna be… a strong, kind, powerful woman… She makes my heart shine…. If you have had the privledge of seeing her belt it out… then you will know what I am talking about… Her debut Album… BEAT & HOLLA drops very shortly and hell…. I am chewing at the bit for everyone to hear it…

I was lucky enough be there for those days of recording… What a magical experience for us all… Dan, Brother Micheal, Curious George, Tony Buchman and I…. They pressed record at 11pm and 7 days later at the exact same time… finished an album… in one take.. with the door open… a mic in outside recording the rain coming down… it was perfect…

I love Festies….

I mean I love em soooo much… I wish life was a festival…  I wish we could all live at a festival, sorrounded by music and good food and people from walks of life, from all backgrounds and experiences, all there with a common goal and bond….  to have fun, live life, think outside the box, dance and be merry…..

THESE ARE THE DAYS … of the April Uprising!!!

Hey hey!!!

Way back when we were recording the album, and shooting the shit outta it….  we thought this could be a film….   we thought these three funny cunts are making wicked music, are havin a ball doing it and hell we gotta enough footage here, and John being totally confortable with Me and Jamie had revealed alot about himself and what makes him tick, that its proberly the world saw the real him…..

Who is?  A tree huggin hippy, with heaps of anger and passion…   and plays a mean fuckin guitar….  Well folks….  Prepared to be surprised…   I spent 16 hours a day with the boys, and usual you’d expect for there to be niggling things that get on your nerves….   and being a big John Butler fan since I was about 16….  I thought… surely he’s gotta fall of this imaginary pedestal…  NOPE!!  The bloody opposite!!!  John is one of the nicest, caring, loving, happy, funniest, manic, mad scientists, incredible father, loving husband, mad skater, wicked artists, crazy muso….  I have ever met…

He is one of my favourite human being on the planet, has become one of my best mates, and someone I can count on for love and support, his wife Dan, makes me want to be a better person… and all in all, I am a have grown as person and am all the better for it…..

Here is a little teaser to the film…   Jake from Runamuk Visual edited the whole thing…  and made it look ten times better than we ever thought it could…. the dude is a genius!!!  Me an Jamie lived with his awesome mumma whilst we edited it in our new favourite place… Noosa….

This has honestly been one of the best experiences of our lives…   we all learned so much each other and came out of the whole process filled with love and hope this album will be something special…..

Life is too good to be true sometimes…..

JBT Album Recordings….

Waaaay back in August, me and my lovely man Jamie, packed up all our lifes belongings… moved out of our beloved Treehouse in Currumbin Valley and moved to Fremantle, W.A…… Byron and Robin came from Sydney, Nicky from Melbourne and John from around the corner…..

We all lived in ‘the compound’ and made an incredible album in the studio down stairs….. We spent 16 hours a day together, for 9 weeks….. Me and Jamie took care of all the meals, and the photography and filming…. And the more time we spent together, the more our love for each other grew…. The Album ‘April Uprising’ came from that time together….. and what an album it is..!!!

Here are of my favourite images that represented that special time in our lives…. We all came together to form what John refers to as the ‘Dream Team’…. It was one of the best experiences of my life, and one we all look back very proudly of and with a great sense of nostalgia….

The album drops in 3 weeks…  so check out the new stuff…. my favourite track being ‘Ragged Mile”  … Epic…..

Also.. Directed my first film this year… call ‘These are the days’  Its a full feature length documentary on John and the boys and follows the boys through the making of the Album, as well as who they are….   its the most proud I have been and have put my name too….  released around the world in August….   trailer out soon… so stay tuned!!!

Well… I am finally doing it!!!

After heaps of people asking me and beggin me to blog and do get my images out there…

Here is my first installment…

I taught myself photography in Japan… and have had an obsession with it ever since…. I guess I go exaggerated portraits… I love colour and see the beauty in all women and love capturing that… I work with lots of musicians, and thats what I love most…. Here are just some from the vault… There will be more to come… This is a place I will use as my visual diary… I will try to fill this with my own work, and if I dont, it will be showing you some of the amazing people I share this world with and who I think is worthy of showcasing…. take a peek……
